Background
Gordon has a broad commercial litigation practice
with a focus on transportation and related insurance law. He also
provides advice on commercial contracts and insurance policy wordings.
Mr. Hearn is a frequent speaker at conferences and seminars throughout
North America on matters relating to transportation law, insurance
law and cross-border litigation. Gordon has authored numerous papers
and articles on related topics.
Gordon represents international and domestic interests
involved in the transportation industry:
- in the Carriage of Goods: shippers, consignees,
carriers [road, rail, air and ocean], warehousemen and cargo intermediaries
- in the Insurance of Goods and Transportation Risks:
cargo, hull, liability and property insurers
- in matters pertaining to specific marine risks
and activities such as recreational boating, commercial towing
and barge operations, the "Coasting Trade", and marina,
cruise line, port authority and resort operations
- in matters pertaining to surface transportation
operating authorities and the defence of regulatory charges levied
against motor carriers
- in Product Liability claims associated with transportation
incidents, or arising generally
- on Cross-Border Litigation issues, including
the Canadian enforcement of foreign judgments
